Minimal in form, modern in design.
This recently completed LEICHT kitchen in Newport Beach carries a calm, architectural presence that brings together kitchen, dining, and living spaces through a cohesive architectural approach.
Designed for a family who loves to entertain, the home was envisioned as a place where cooking, gathering, and everyday living unfold within a single connected environment. Rather than treating each room as a separate destination, the design creates a natural flow between spaces, encouraging interaction while maintaining a sense of calm and order.

Designing Beyond Traditional Boundaries
Most homes treat the kitchen as its own enclosed zone, with sightlines into the dining and living areas limited or interrupted. For a household that entertains, that arrangement works against the host— conversations get cut off at the kitchen threshold, and whoever's cooking ends up isolated from the room.
In many homes, the kitchen functions as a distinct zone, separated from adjacent living spaces by walls, circulation paths, or visual interruptions. Here, the goal was different.
The design embraces openness, allowing the kitchen, dining room, and living area to operate as one continuous experience. Sightlines remain uninterrupted, movement feels intuitive, and the home supports the social nature of modern living without sacrificing functionality.
The result is a space that feels equally suited to intimate family moments and larger gatherings, adapting effortlessly to the rhythms of daily life.

A Cohesive Material Language
Throughout the kitchen, a consistent range of warm tones ties the cabinetry, surfaces, and finishes together into one cohesive language. Panel-ready appliances are fully integrated into this palette, disappearing behind cabinetry fronts so the kitchen reads as a continuous surface rather than a collection of individual elements.
The Island as Focal Point
At the center of the room, an 18-foot island gives the open plan its anchor. Its generous scale supports food preparation, casual dining, and conversation simultaneously, reflecting the way the family lives and entertains.
The island supports the practical rhythms of cooking while also functioning as the natural gathering point for guests— exactly the kind of dual role an entertaining-focused home requires. Like many LEICHT designs, the island balances performance and aesthetics, demonstrating how thoughtful planning can support everyday use without compromising visual simplicity.
Bringing The Outside In
Massive sliding doors extend the living space directly outward, removing the boundary between interior and exterior and allowing the home to open fully toward the coast. That relationship continues at the second sink, positioned beneath a large window facing outward to ensure the view remains part of the experience.
This relationship between interior and exterior contributes to the home's overall sense of openness, creating an environment that feels both expansive and deeply connected to its location.
Beyond the Blueprint
A LEICHT kitchen is never a fixed template. It's an architectural language shaped around how the family actually lives. Rooted in the precision and discipline of German engineering, every design is thoughtfully adapted to reflect the unique needs, routines, and character of the household.
